Attached is photos from the Bob Hope Xmas Tour 1972. He stopped at our base RTAFB Nam Phong, MCAS ROSE GARDEN, Thailand in December 1972.I was TAD from 3rd MarDiv, 3rd FSR, Camp Foster, Okinawa. I was attached to MAG-15, LSG Delta.
Our mission was troop support and bombing missions over North and South Viet Nam in the closing days of the war. We were also involved with Operation Linebacker 2. The Christmas Bombings that finally brought the North Viet Namese to sign the cease fire. After the cease fire we provided air support the the loyalist Cambodians who were fighting the Khmer Rouge. Units at Nam Phong were VMFA 115 (F4 Phantoms) VMFA 232 (F4 Phantoms) VMFA (all weather) 533 (A6 Intruders)
