Carlos Hathcock
Sean Swartz
There once was a young man, dark and tan,
That grew up and lived in this United States land.
He had a dream, indeed a dream,
To be a United States Marine.
He grew up fast and grew up clean,
Now he’s finally seventeen,
And at last he steps in line,
To be a U.S. Marine.
They taught him how to snipe,
And taught him how to fight.
He’ll stalk the Viet Cong,
For many days and nights.
He was caught in a fire,
And while risking his life,
Got an award, after the war,
For saving eight other, of the Corps.
He is in, war no more,
For he has gone, to be with the Lord.
He guards the gates around the clock,
Gunnery Sergeant Carlos Hathcock.
