At night I hear the haunting sounds of the desert, the explosions of the bombs and the missles of war.
The wounded are crying out for someone to help,
All i can do is try my best to save them.
My heart bleeds for those who are beyond help,
For I know who is about to steal theirs souls.
As I gaze into their dying eyes looking toward the sky,
I fear what they are about to see; The Reaper.
All in Black, riding a horse black as death itself, With eyes as red as blood, I fight against his icy grip.
Trying to cheat him out of a soul or two, But sometimes the cheaters get cheated. read more

Only the Few

Murl D. Long

Let me provide you a small glimpse of real life
Of a man preparing for coming strife
It begins with training unsurpassed
Compared to all others, far outclassed

It begins at 4 AM with the ‘Devil’ pounding a stick on a garbage can
We sit up straight in our bunks, to a man
Without question, for sure you are awake, to the head you run
Shower, shave, dress, police your area, the day has begun read more

You can keep your Army khaki,
You can keep your Navy blue.
I have the world?s best fighting man, to introduce to you.
His uniform is different, the best you?ve ever seen.
The German?s call him the ?Devil dog, ?
His real name is ?Marine.?
He was born on Parris Island.
The sand is eighteen inches deep,
The sun is blazing hot.
He gets up every morning, before the rising sun.
He?ll run a hundred miles and more,
Before the day is done.
He?s deadly with a rifle, A bayonet made of steel.
He took the warrior?s calling card; He?s mastered how to kill.
And when he gets to heaven,
St. Peter he will tell, ?One more Marine reporting sir, I?ve served my time in Hell.?
So listen all you young girls, to what I have to say:
Go find yourself a young MARINE,
To love you every day.
He?ll hug you and he?ll kiss you, and treat you like a queen.
There is no better fighting man: THE UNITED STATES MARINE! read more

Poem from the Sunni Triangle

Gone for way to Long
Author: U.S. Marine, Al Sad, Iraq OIFII “the Sunni Triangle” 040714

We’ve been layin’ here tryin’ to find ourselves. We look behind ourselves, We need to go back ourselves..Always looking for the big pay back listen for the news distorted play back They say that all men bleed just like us.

Were never number one always the last in line. We watch our friends go by but it doesn’t help pass the time. Were fed to many pills that never eases the pain. We took a couple towns but it doesn’t help erase the pain. Nobody really knows us but that’s the price we pay. read more

Father’s Day

Father’s Day
by Sgt Ronald (Frenchie) Richoux USMC

I laughed while receiving much love,
harbored memories sent to me from above
children and grandchildren showering me with hugs,
while at my heart I could feel a tug.

Out of the blue I could again see you,
I remember Korea, honor to you was due,
thought of freedom and the price you did pay.
I cried as I remembered you never had a Fathers Day. read more

Merry Christmas My Friend, Semper Fi And Goodnight

'Twas the night before Christmas, he lived all alone,
In a one bedroom house made of plaster & stone.
I had come down the chimney, with presents to give,
and to see just who in this home did live.

As I looked all about, a strange sight I did see,
no tinsel, no presents, not even a tree.
No stocking by the fire, just boots filled with sand.
On the wall hung pictures of a far distant land. read more
