I was wondering if anybody out there has any info on this E.G.A. It appears to be off a garrison cover or maybe an old smokey, as you can see it has no fouled line nor a screw backing to attach it to the cover, it never has had a screw backing and the pin and clasp are original. I believe it to be pre W.W. Two. I have never seen one like this and I would like some help getting some history on it. It is the center piece of my Marine Corps memorabilia collection. Thank you.

  1. This looks like a 1922 issue EGA, to obtain a more accurate estimate I recommend getting a book called Equipping the Corps, which can be purchased from Fall Creek Sutlers. it is an excellent guide to the uniform changes that took place post civil war and into the next century. semper fi do or die!

  2. I have several old EGA sets without fouled anchor. Dress blue enlisted and class A. The fouled anchor was added about 1937 but because of WWII and metal scarcity some were made of composites I heard but have never seen any. I will likely send these off to the Marine Corps museum. All came from various Marines estates who have gone on to guard Heaven’s gates. Semper Fi
